Racing Committee Procedures and Safety Training

This one (1) day class at Lake Pleasant is intended for anyone planning to volunteer for Race Committee at either Tempe Town Lake or Lake Pleasant, whether already experienced or without experience, but interested in learning. The class consists of three (3) components:

  • Pre-work: light reading, several days before class, of safety incident reports for discussion.
  • Morning of Feb-7: Classroom instruction covering various Race Committee roles and procedures taught by Commodore Roger Pawley, followed by instruction of Safety Procedures and Best Practices covered by Safety Chair Bob Naylor.
  • Afternoon of Feb-7: On-the-water practical application of morning lessons on both the Lake Pleasant Committee Boat and Mark-set Boat setting up and running races for the Sailboat Racing Clinic.

This class includes lunch and end-of-day food and beverages at AYC’s Spring Canyon club facility.
